Live music and panel talk for ESRC Festival of Social Science

Folk duo Pedler // Russell were commissioned by the research team to produce a song based on interviews with migrants living and working on farms in the UK.

As part of ESRC Festival of Social Science 2022, the song was performed at Open Source Arts in Leeds on 11 November alongside tracks from their album Field and Dyke which explores the stories of rural, farming communities.

A panel debate followed about the ways in which the arts and academia can work together to understand and share lived experiences. This was a unique opportunity for city dwellers to learn about rural communities who are often hidden but play a vital role in domestic food production.
