About the artworks

30 ink and watercolour sketches by Sarah Hannis (https://www.sarahhannis.com/) provide an insight into the daily lives of migrant agricultural workers who came to the UK in 2021. The stories are based on interviews with workers and the photos and video clips they shared during Feeding the Nation fieldwork. The illustrations will form short stories highlighting the manual labour, living conditions and all-weathers nature of the work in rural locations, but also the team work, camaraderie and satisfaction that comes from working on the land.
